David Reynoso
Hi! I’m David Reynoso, an Oak Cliff, Dallas native and proud son of Mexican immigrants.
What is my SHPE experience?
I have held the following leadership positions:
University of Rochester Chapter Vice President (2018-19)
University of Rochester Chapter President (2019-20)
SHPE UTA Recruitment Director (2023-24)
Region 5 Graduate Representative (2023-24)
National Graduate Committee Co-Lead (2024-25)
I have advocated for graduate students by:
Meeting with the SHPE CEO to highlight the importance of giving graduate students a platform to present research, increasing partnerships with National Labs, and restructuring membership data acquisition for visibility of graduate members.
As NGC Co-Lead, I initiated a WhatsApp Community for all graduate students, enabling members to be the first in-the-know for all upcoming grad programming and fellowship opportunities.
As RGR5, I vouched for the region to sponsor the registration for 10 graduate students to attend the SHPE National Convention in Salt Lake City. I networked and identified five local graduate leaders to serve as representatives and leveraged regional funding to fund community events, culminating in a networking gathering with 27 graduate students.
As an officer for UTA SHPE, I hosted a grad school workshop to highlight funding opportunities for undergraduates.
At UTA, I founded the Latinx Graduate Student Association (LGSA) and initiated a grant proposal, securing a $5,000 award, to establish UTA's first-ever grant program for graduate student organizations, supporting future programming.
